    Hello,
I'm installing the heads on my rebuilt 350. Last time I did heads, I used a teflon sealer that came in a tube from NAPA. ( I'm talking on the headbolts, not the gasket.) The local NAPA doesn't carry it now. Counter guy suggested a high temp RTV silicone. Years ago, I remember my Dad using brown Permatex gasket sealer, I think. A local engine builder said he uses teflon tape. I always thought tape was to allow better tightening, but was not a sealer. No? Can anybody tell me the current hot setup for sealing headbolts? Thanks.
    John

Already ran a tap through 'em. Just one layer, like doing a pipe fitting? Thanks.

Get a tube of Permatex Form-A-Gasket #2 Non-Hardening Sealer. It's awesome stuff. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif They also make a slightly thinner version that is in a can with a brush applicator. It's called Avaition Gasket Sealer, or something similar to that.

Permatex still makes thread sealer, and I would use that.

I got the thread sealer from GM it isn't cheap but on a $5000.00 motor what is an extra 10 bucks at least that was my reasoning.
