    86 k5 blazer, the rear or transfer case has a thunk at take-off and between first and second. Not a bad noise but it is noticeable. what should I look for?

    Could be transmission mount or motor mounts?

    The last time I heard that, my rear diff was cracked in half. You may want to open up the cover and check it out.

    Could be a bunch of things...

    * Bad U-joint
    * "Chevy clunk" - something some axles do... I think ring and pinion slap is what causes it
    * Excessive ring and pinion backlash (related to above)

    I'd pull the diff cover and inspect the running gear. It sux having something driveline related come apart when you're going down the road.

    Thanks, I found that the bolts that hold the transfer case in had come loose.
