Anyone know what that could be? Sounds kinda like an exhaust manifold leak but I'm not sure. Exhaust manifold was changed two years ago.

Doesn't sound serious but sounds abnormal.

MY 90 is getting a clicking or grinding noise coming from the vaccum line that plugs into the valve cover. Can you narrow down where the noise is coming from?

It could be plenty of things...from exhaust manifold like you said, to out-of-adjustment rocker arms, to a bad lifter or two. Unfortunately, we're going to need a better location of the noise to properly diagnose the problem.
My engine has had pretty severe lifter/rocker noise for over 100,000 miles. Still going strong...so don't wreck your brain over it.

I am having the same ticking problem on my 87. it sounds like it is coming from near the valve covers on the passenger side. im not to worried about it but it does get annoying.

I didn't get much of a chance to lesten close. Thanks for setting me at ease. I plan on getting some Vortec Heads next summer. Maybe the noise will go away when I have those done. Still deciding between a TBI swap or carb rebuild...

Get a long screwdriver, pry bar, board, whatever and place against where you suspect the noise. It will act sort like a stethoscope and make the sound more audible. Near the manifolds will have a slight tick tick tick from the valves working. Do you have a manual tranny? Worn throw out bearings like to tick and make noise.

Naw... It's quieter than that but I'm not sure if it sounds like it can get louder. I'm not sure if it's just me being paranoid but I think I hear a manifold leak when I get on the gas in gear(on the road).

Passenger side? It could leaking from the exhaust flaper. Mine leaks from there until the truck gets hot, then goes away. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

i dont know what year model you have but i had a 80 model that made some noise on the right side it turned out to be the frigging fuel pump. i thought it was something major but thats the way i allways think.

i've had a loose fuel pump bolt do that. is it speed or rpm dependant...or independant of both?
