What is the difference in the tie rods? The main thing I am looking at is the length and the tie rod ends? Are they the same length and are the ends interchangeable?

    Thanks

K30 tie rods are the same on the '80 and older trucks, but shorter.
The '81 on up use that loonnngggg adjusting sleeve with two short ends. These are also longer than the K30's.
The K30 rods are a part number of their own.

In the past, I have taken a pre-'81 tie rod and cut the threads and sleeve to shorten it to fit a D60. There is still plenty of thread left to do this.

The only end that is interchangeable is the short tie rod end on the driver side and the adjusting sleeve. The long bar is shorter than the '77 to '80.

I was aware of most of this. My concern comes in with...
I was going to get a custom tie rod, stronger, for the hydraulic steering, But, if I go to a Dana 60 in 6 months, I dont want to make another tie rod for the 60. I am wondering if I could just take the tie rod from the 10 bolt to use on the 60.
