I have a Tilt column out of a 82 with column dimmers, And I want to put it in a 79 . Has any body ever took the dimmer mech out of a dimmer style column and put a older style
neck on the in place of the dimmer style neck? Are the
turn signal switches the same? or would I be better off
just wiring up the dimmer to the column? Any info would be great Thanks

Dimmer wasn't on the column in '82, (my '83 was still floor)but that really doesn't matter as long as it has it.

I'd say wire it up with dimmer on the column, less likely to short out, break, corrode from water, whatever. I think the dimmer is a little safer from my feet on the column.

Why insist on counting when the ring gear has the tooth counts stamped in?
