Does anyone know how to fix a loose tilt section on the column? I have taken off the steering wheel and got past the turn signal and lock cylinder, but don't have a clue after that . Haynes and Chilten manuals don't have any info. By the way it's a 89 K1500 . Thanks for any info

I tightened mine a few months ago so my memory isn't the best but I know after the blinker stuff is out of the way there are either 3 or 4 bolts that you should be able to see. those are the ones that need to be tightened.

I with I could remember if those bolts are right after the blinker stuff or farther down. If it is farther down, you need to pull off the protective black covering around the column. That means you need to pull out the key/ignition assembly.

Sorry I'am not much help but nobody replied so I figured something is better than nothing.

    Good Luck!

  3. Someone here just did a write up on that very thing. I will scout around for it, but you should also do a search. It is somewhere buried in the forum.

Are you sure it is the tilt portion only ???? If it is this only than one of the pivot pins on either side of the column has fallen out or the joint assembly below the tilt portion is loose. I remember someone doing a right up on the joint fix recently.

Try doing a search on the tilt column subject. Its been brought up a bunch.
If you can't find it, a similar write-up is available on my page linked below.

Why insist on counting when the ring gear has the tooth counts stamped in?
