Tire size question

    I was looking at some Gumbo Mudders and they list a size 10x15, 11x15 and 12x15... exactly what does that mean?? I figure the 10, 11 and 12 are widths but what is the heigth?

    i went to Nat'l Tire <a target="_blank" href=http://www.natltire.com/ntw0799/pages/mudders.html>http://www.natltire.com/ntw0799/pages/mudders.html</a>
    and called them up. 10x15 is a 31" and 12x15 is a 33" I would guess 11x15 is 32" but i am not a math major[​IMG]

    That's the nomenclature used when they were still chipping tires out of stone isn't it?[​IMG] I'm old enough to remember every guy in school wanting to stuff a set of N50-15's under the back of their car.

    H...farther up the alphabet the wider the section width
    78...aspect ratio (in this case 78% of the section width is the sidewall height)
    15...rim size
    LT...Light truck

    Notably absent is the lack of an R...your example is a bias ply tire.
