tires for 16 inch---and I\'ve already searched and read

Many of the post I found discussed 14ff and 16's. I do not have a 14ff.
My question is what tires can I get for 16's and where is the best place to order from. I found an excellent deal on a set of American Racing Sliders (16x8) and do not want to pass on them. They are new only $80 for each of them. Road and mild off roading here so tires should be fitted to my habits. Also, if you have 16's, what size tire are you running? I want to get something more than 35's I have now on 15's. What is the widest tire I can run on 16x8?

On a side note, I just signed on for a CK5 membership.

    Thanks

I run a 12.50" width on my 15x8s, that's a good wholesome width of tire to play with, you really don't want to go narrower due to protecting the rim. I'm no expert on the earlier models, but I think 35" tire will fit you okay with no problems depending on the wheeling you do.

As for tire recommendation, nothing but the best, go for the BFG MT. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Anything above a 35" tire in a 16" flavor is gonna cost big dolla. Sounds like your trying to save a buck with the purchase of these wheels. Im not familliar with that exact wheel, so i dont really know just how good of a deal it is. But unless you NEED 16" wheels, id not do it. Your gonna save $ in the long run with your purchase of tires in 15" size. and plus the added benefit of their availability.
Dont forget, your gonna have to buy an equivalent size tire for your spare, that sometimes can be a pain if your going 16" and trying to save money.
I wouldnt go too much taller than a 35" tire and an 8" wheel. Its gonna start getting sloppy in the side wall from there out it that matters to your on road driving ability. 8" is good with 35's

The rims are normally 160-180, depending where you look. I am in the market for rims, so I will be spending on rims anyways. The savings would more than make up for the cost differential between the 15 and 16 inch tires. Thoughts? I currently run 15's with 35's. Besides cost, is there any reason I should not go with the 16's?

I ran 35x12.5 on 16x8's, and I hated it. I had to air down so far I didn't like the ride near as well. made it tend to lean more / feel tippy on the road a lot more. I got a set of those black wheels from 4x4wholesale parts for $200 (all 5, delivered to my house). they are a lot heavier, but a lot stronger also. I really like these wheels a lot better.

I used to run those 36x12.5x16 radial swampers on a 6" 8" wide rim. It seemed fine to me. In fact I still throw them on for mud racing depending on the classes.

Would I be able to run a 16x10 inch rim? Is so, would I need a 12.5 to fit?

Name is now officially orange. This addiction won't let go!

Both rims would work. I just wanted the tire as narrow as I could get it. I have ran many 12.5" wide tires on 10" rims. I say go for it. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

and finally, here is the latest...the rims I want to get are 16x8 with an offset of +12mm. Will this still fit my k5? If not, would spacers do the trick?
Such a good deal on these.
