Just had my tranny rebuilt. th350. my mechanic said he installed a high stall torque converter. what are the advantages and disadvantages of having one. I do a lot of wheeling in the sand. any comments would be appreciated.

advantage is that it gets your motor started in the beginning of its power band range.

Disadvantages are that is causes more heat for your transmission and less efficient on gas milage.
