At the family reunion today, I was socializing and noticed someone looking at my truck. Now, this guy was looking at the front, stepping back and eying it, walking all around it. Getting up on the sliders and looking in (the side windows/rear window were a home) and jumping down and laying on the ground and checking out the running gear, all over and around the truck. Then I notice my favorite cousin, Gary, talking to the "admirer". I walk across the gravel parking lot to see what's up. Seems the admirer is Gary's son, Noah, who he had been talking about earlier. He is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer and is pretty bad shape. Seemed to be in his mid twenties (I didn't think to ask his age).He lives for anything 4X4. He's to feeble to drive but buys every magazine that has anything to do with 4X4's. Asked some really technical questions about my truck, even getting on me for not having a dustcover on the trans. (haven't got around to modifying for the metric style w/torque arms to the motor mounts). Told me about the benefits of 14 bolts over my 12 bolt. Went into detail about all kinds of tech stuff. Really touched me. He's top of the list next Tellico trip, hopefully in November. Would break my heart if he passed away before I could take him into the Tellico ORA!

Did you take him out for a quick trip, I'm sure he would've loved that.
You should also have him come hang out here, better and more informative than reading all those mags.

You must be a mind reader. I had the same thought running through my head.

I hear you, brother. My father died in June from a cancerous tumor in his chest. He never even got through radiation treatments before the tumor invaded his lung wall and pretty much took him down. :(

I say take him for at least a quick trip for now, even if it's to the local mudhole.

Wish I could. It's 200 miles there (to Murphy). Looks like it'll be Thanksgiving before we can get back up to visit.
    Thanks y'all!
I'll definitely plan a trip for him and his Dad (my cousin) for that visit.
    Y'all are some good people.

200 miles is nothing compared to the memories Noah will have for the time being. I'd get down there in a heartbeat and spend the day/weekend with him.
At least you will have a peace of mind knowing you could fulfill his wish and not feel guilty about not going down.

I will cover the difference if not enough for it. Or a few just to help out. If I still had the Stomper I would accompany you on a run in October but it is gone. Let me know if you need any assistance from down this way.

for alot of kids just a little ride playing in the mud and a few hills and they are thrilled to death. Get the truck sideways in some mud or the like is great. So if he gets a membership and a trip somewhere like tellico then he will be in heven. Just take him on a few little rides to a couple spots and you will be his hero. :waytogo: A trip to tellico and you will be a super hero. :D

I might should get Gary (Noah's dad/my cousin) to set one up when I get ahold of him. He is from the country and he might resent me giving him money, plus Sunday was the first time I'd seen him in thirty years. Where as if he or Noah gets online and sees the goodwill exhibited here, how could he refuse? I hope I can speak to him tomorrow, Tuesday.
