Ok whats everybody using for a tow rig and is it your daily driver?
If u can post up pics of your truck with a trailer and your off road rig on the trailer. And specs on the tow rig.
I wanna see what people got for a tow rig and what options they went with.
Im leaning towards getting a superduty 7.3 crew cab

It was in a bad state of disrepair when he picked it up..... what a difference $100 and a whole sh*tload of man hours can do for an old beat up trailer

no pics yet, cause I haven't built a trailer.

Tow rig is a '75 C20 camper special with a 454 / th400. I'm leaving the drivetrain pretty much stock 'cause she runs really well. I have a very nice bench seat I'm gonna install in there (thanks Bruce!) and a 40 gallon 'Burb tank to replace the saddle tanks (thanks again Bruce!). A flatbed will replace the stock longbed. The flatbed will have a couple of spots where I can bolt my HF hoist to so I can lift heavy parts (up to 1000 lbs) into the bed without killing myself. :thumb: Once I get some time to work on the beast, there will be a build-up thread. At sub-10 mpg it sure as heck won't be my DD... lol!

Yeah, it was scary. Built new tongue out of old semi frame, deck was left over deck material from 5 flatbeds we decked at work lately, paint was leftover paint from trailers and a bunch of man hours

Most of you have gone with F*rds for your dd/tow rig. Is that because there are a bajillion (<--yeah bajillion) of them on the road and can be picked up fairly cheap or is there another reason?

I don't get the affinity for Ford tow rigs either. My reasoning for my tow rig choice was this: I wanted a Cummins, it just happened to come with a Dodge truck wrapped around it

Yeah that's what I would think the philosophy behind a "tow rig" would be. Get the drivetrain that you want then buy whatever truck comes around it. I guess people like the PS though. Seems hypocritical for some reason, lots of guys have jeeps/toyotas/chevy/GM/etc. but the Chevy vs. Ford thing seems to be very strong, at least where I live.
