Hey guys, does anyone have any experience with these trannys or heard anything good/bad about TPI Performance? It sounds like a very good deal...

I have never heard anything bad about them. That package is for a 2wd so there might be a little differance in price for one for a 4x4. I was going to get one from them till I decided to just convert to a 400/205.

That Raptor sounds good, but the 4L80 sounds even better. Then it would be a fire breathing big block in front of it, then of course a special made transfer case to handle the power and ..............
I can't take it any more............

For that kind of money I would just buy a new GM one. I just checked into one for a friend, they were 1500.00. It comes with a 3yr/50,000 mile warranty. That was my cost. I am a manager at a repair shop. It may be higher for you but it is still worth it. Also the new GM 700r4 is alot stronger that the original ones.

Dan (or anyone else out there), how does the GM tranny compare to the rebuilt ones with all the upgrades?

We need some slush-box gurus to contribute to this thread. When I finally put a 205 in my Jimmy...I am prolly gonna upgrade my 700r4 at the same time. I was going to put a Jet Performance T700 in there...I had heard they were the best 700r4 out there....any differing opinions or insights from the gurus would be *greatly* appreciated! =D

The only things I can remember about 700R4 build ups is make sure you get diesel clutch packs and a good external tranny cooler.

I'm going to have a 700R4 out of my diesel Blazer up for sale in a year or so. I'm going to convert to an NV4500, and probably to a different transfer case.

My GM tranny has held great. Ive used it to tow my car. My car and trailer weigh 5000 lbs. It also has a lot of off road miles on it to. Still works great. They build them now so it shifts from 1st to 2nd harder so the clutches dont wear out. My buddy also has one in his Blazer. He has 100,000 miles on it. All he uses his Blazer for is towing his boat. I would say they work great. You could always put a $25 B&M shift kit in it.

Yeah, I agree. I am definitely going for that upgrade from my TH350. I love the idea of overdrive and I love the idea of getting better gas mileage even better. I just finished reading the new Fouwheeler article on overdrives and got really pumped to get one.

that GM 700r4 with a 3yr/50K warranty is sounding pretty good right about now.
