    Traction Bars For \'73-\'91 Blazers?

I am looking for ways to improve the traction on my '86 Blazer. On a car I with rear leaf springs I would just buy a pair of traction bars or "slapper bars" as some call them.

More or less they help with wheel hop and excessive pinion angle.

So, does anyone know where to find some traction bars for my Blazer? A part number and company would be great!!

    Thanks guys!!!

You could try the rancho kicker shocks that bolt to the top of the u-bolts and to the front of the fenderwell horizontaly. They are supposed to help a little besides they are probably enough for our trucks unless you have some crazy HP and it's hopping like mad. There is also solid bars available instead of a stiff shock.

Just wondering why you want Traction bars on a stock Blazer?
Unless you are having bad axle wrap problems. (which can be cured with better springs)They are a waste of money in my opinion. They hang down too far, get hung up on rocks brush, Stiffen up the flex too much, ect They might help a bit in hill climbing.
    BUT
If its traction you are after, your money would be way better spent on a locker or posi unit.

I already have a locker in the rear, posi in the front.

Oh, my engine current engine is stock. My new 383 stroker with ported '70's LT-1 heads isn't. It dyno'd somewhere around 450 Ft lbs of torque @3800 RPM. My " HD Towing" converter flashes at 2000 RPM right now. It shouldn't have any problem smoking all 4 tires in 4H with ease. Especially when I get too excited when leaving from /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gifa light (or a Honda) in hurry.

Not bad, it's a little harder with boggers though.

Hmmm your rig is far from stock /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif I was responding to your sig.
Maby trac bars would help a little /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
    If you cant find any
Rancho makes trac bars.I think they call them Torque Rods or something like that. They dont list for a Blazer but they fit short bed half ton GM PUs and I am sure they can be made to fit a K5.

I doubt it would be an issue either, as long as the gears are at least 4.11 or 4.56. I don't plan on getting crazy with more lift or tires, so I guess I'll never know.

I don't normally brag about the motor because the last time I did that with a ride it was stolen, stripped, and burned. I try to keep the "low profile" thing now.

Re: Traction Bars For \'73-\'91 Blazers?

before I lifted my blazer I had a traction bar fom JC Whitney (dessert steel is the company name). Its an over the leaf type traction bar and it has a threaded rod that bolts to a plate that bolts to the front shackle mount. IT DOES WORK. I dont think it would work for lifted vehicles and it does probley limit travel. I never had any problems using them with stock leafs though.
