I can't find a modern traler hitch that is made for my 70 K5.
    1. Does anyone make one just for a first gen?
    2. Do I have to modify one for a truck?
    3. Do I need to fab my own?

I dont know if they have a shop in TX, but there is a company here in Denver called Lampert Hitch, and they can fab a hitch for any truck, for dirt cheap. Try a couple of trailer sales/services places too.

Believe it or not I had a hitch built by a little U-Haul shop in Phx. The guy even painted it while it was really really warm so the paint baked on didn't just dry. Never ever scratched.

The guy who owns Blazerworld.net lists that he had a hitch made at Tork Lift in Kent Washington with a gas tank skid plate attached. He has pictures on his site in the "project chode" section.

You can get "generic" stuff to fit. I wanted something hidden that wouldn't cost me ground clearance. Ended up building what you see there...it also gives me "correction" for the 2" body lift, so the bumper still sits at the correct location.

There are a few more pics in my .sig

I think there is a company called hidden hitch, valley hitch that sells them. I remember reading about them it mounts hidden behind the bumper and is accessed behind the license plate.

I too went to Uhaul. They'll install it (good job too!) and wire it up for ya. The hitch is great quality, job well done, and for not too much dinero. Probably your best bet.
