I was wondering if the gas tank needs to be dropped to change the trailer hitch? I bought the truck with a worthless 1 1/4 in hitch and I want to put on a 2inch class III.

I did my Class 4 hitch when I had the tank out for the body lift and other mods. Thinking back, I would not of been able to do it with the tank in place. I have a Reese Class 4.

Looking at mine earlier today. It look's like you don't have to move the tank to install the hitch. But it would be a hell of alot easier to do with the tank out of the way!

On my 89 I would have to drop the tank. Or at least the skid plate.
