tranny and rear

    i have a 87 k5 and recently my tranny went and i wasnt sure which one to go with its a 700r4, my mechanic recommended a jasper (which i have never heard of), or should i just go with a chevy 700r4, what have you guys gone with any recommendations would really help to getting the blazer back on the road, also i wanna put a new rear on as , a 12 bolt instead of the factory 10 that i have, any suggestions on where to find what im looking for would really help thanks

    I can't say for sure but I assume that "Jasper" is a company that makes 700r4s. It sounds like your mechanic is recommending that you replace your blown tranny with one made by them. If you want to spend some dough, look into Jet Performance. Check out the link below:

    700R4's are probably the tricky-est rebuild out there and one of the biggest come backs. Jasper is a company that rebuilds engines and trannys..They have a pretty decent reputation from what I've heard... I personally would get one from TCI or 700 Overdives... heard awsome things about the latter and TCI is always awsmoe IMO.

    Also if you choose to keep the 700R4 setup, then be carefull what gears you select in the new rear...
