I have a 81' chev 1/2 ton (2wd) that originally came with an auto tranny attached behind the 305. I was just wondering how I could indentify what tranny it is and what modifications would have to be done to get it to connect to a T-case..? Thx for your help. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Thanks man, that helps alot. Now, does anyone know what kind of modification I would have to do to a TH350 to make it able to mate to a T-case? Would I just have to change the slip joint housing (don't know the technical term) for the adapter or is there more to it than that?

no problem /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif to make a 2wheel drive tranny into a 4x4 tranny you need to change the output shaft. the whole tranny needs to be taken apart to do this /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I got a 2wd tranny swapped over to the 4wd shaft at a local trans shop in Flint for 160 bucks. While they were in there they also replaced the seals, and the 1-2 clutchpack. Not a bad deal in my eyes, especially when the tranny was free /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
