I have a 700r4 that was rebuilt about 14K ago. I dropped the pan and changed 5 qts and the filter after 6K, and did it agian today after another 8K...also put on a drain plug...I realize the tranny hold lots of fluid, in the lines, cooler, and TC...i'm thinking I'm gonna drain the pan every 2 oil changes...about 6K, and then replace the filter after 3 changes, or about 18K...will this replace enough fluid to keep my tranny strong? I've heard you don't really need to pay $70 to get all the fluid replaced when you do it reguarly...is this often enough? Any tips or ideas? Thanks

    Yup yur doing it right.
I usually change the fluid in my 700 around every 8K miles. And the filter every other change.
The drain plug is the only way to go.
I still have the orginal tranny in my 89 and it works perfict.
