sometimes at a stop light or just shifting into gear my tranny seems to take a second to engage. once engaged there are no problems. does anyone know why it would do this or how to fix it. thanks

Check your fluid level. Probably your torque covertor. I cant really think of anything else because once you get rolling everything is ok, right?

what do you mean at a stop light? Just when you shift gears? If it is just when shifting gears it could be inside the trans, u-jt's, stripped out or not enough shaft on the Tcsae output shaft (if you have a lift), rear end, rear brakes not adjusted right so they don't hold the rear wheels enough...
