I have a '79 with a 400 cid and a TH-350. It seems to shift fine, although the shift from 2nd to DRIVE is not as crisp as the first shift. At highway speeds when I get on it, it almost seems that the engine is slowly climbing in rpms, with little increase in speed. I don't have a tach to verify this. I'm just listening to the motor. I have checked the fliud level and I have a Hayden cooler installed.
    Whatch ya'll think??
    Thanks for helping a rookie!

Mine was slipping (previous owner had left vehicle sitting for almost 2 years...) so I had the tranny serviced, and it fixed that weird slipping ! You might try a quick and simple service, that might be all she needs. Also, have you checked to see if the tranny fluid level is up where it should be ? Mine was 1-1/2 pints low when I bought it !
