Okay, last time I was out, my rear diff breathing tube stuck straight up about 7 inches and was open on top! I cut it when I did the lift and had never finished it. That made me avoid deep water and mud. This weekend I alleviated that. Ran it up to the bottom of the body, up to the engine compartment, and now the top (which has the GM breather thingy) is located about an inch below the hood.

But, while I was under the rig, I was looking for vent tubes for both the tranny (700R4) and tcase (208) and didn't find any. The tcase was rebuilt eons ago, but I have never checked for vents. Could be that they have been gone all this time. Are there vents on these? Where? Can I just attch some tubing like for the diffs and run these suckers up my firewall as well? Are they not as critical as the diff? I would think not.

i may be wrong, but i believe the breather vent for you 700r4 is on the top of the hump, and MAY be accessible by the transfer case shifter hole, but i doubt it.....

i can see it 'cause i still havent stuffed the motor back in mine, and the trans is hanging down a bit, exposing this little tube......

The vent tube for the 700r4 is real tiny. Its right on top of the hump and looks like a little 4" plastic straw.
