Any shops in the Phx area that are worth dealing with when it comes to autos?Have a 400 in need of a rebuild.

I used State to State on Bell Rd & 32st ish. 2yr/24K warranty and they seemed to know there stuff. I had a 700R4 built heavy and so far so good. It has been fine for 8 months now.

There is probably shops that are better but I wanted the warranty since I seem to go threw a 700R4 in about 12 months. Nobody else in town would give me anything above 1yr/12K warranty. I always seemed to get 1yr and 1 month out of a tranny when I had a 1yr/12K warranty.

    P.S.

Don't use Gentry's on 27th Ave. He is supposed to be a Turbo Hydromatic specialist. He specializes in getting trans to blow out 1 month past the warranty date and then saying your SOL. I had 2 of his 700R4's blow up.

I paided $1600 installed. I had the 700R4 built heavy though. Kevlar bands, 13 vane pump, all updates, 1200-1400 stall converter, corvette servo, HD planetaries and sun shield, etc. That was about the going rate at other shops I called. The difference was the warranty for me.

Well, I've had trouble w/ 2 tranny's that I've had Kenny and his organization build. First one was in the old Early Bronco I had.... Had to take it back 2 times after the initial rebuild to get it right.... They finally nailed the tranny down, but after picking it up the last time the truck had a dented rocker panel /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif.... I talked w/ them and they would never even acknowledge the possibility of them doing it.... Didn't really matter as I sold the Bronco the following week.

ok.... so fast forward to my latest Las Cruces trip: Flying up "The Wall" (a large sand climb on the West side of El Paso...) in 2wd required some big rrr's from the Big Block and a 2-3 shift half way up! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif... after about the 5th climb tho... suddenly I can't get 3rd gear. Stop at bottom of hill to check fluids n' stuff. and find reverse has left me too... /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

This tranny didn't even hold up to 1 season! /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif.... Gonna go back and have a talk w/ Kenny after I get it out. Hopefully he'll make it right... but we'll see /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif....

Good to know. I was considering carrying my "screaming meamie" down there to let them look at it. Don't want to get stuck on the trail. But maybe I'll be looking somewhere else...

Another don't go to. There's a shop on Bell road I think at 28th st on the south west corner across the street from the Whataburger. They screwed me over pretty good a while back.

Good luck to y'all in the future. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Well Lee Myles rings a bell but I'm not entirely sure on that one. The location I'm sure of as The Whataburger is the closest one to my house. /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif
