If the TH350 was offered on 85 and earlier Blazers why would swapping a TH700R4 for a TH350 be very hard?
if i found a trans out of an older Blazer it should be a snap.
Besides you can't tow with 700R4 in 4th gear.( owners manuel says not to.) And you can't put a very big cam
in and make it lug in 4th.that's why i want a 350.

That swap shouldn't be too hard, you might need a new crossmember, though. And of course it's a good idea to get a new torque converter(the 700-r4 one won't work).

This said, why not go ahead and put in a TH-400? The TH-350 isn't really any stonger that a 700-R4 in the same condition, so you won't gain and strength. By going to the Th-350, you'll also be getting a higher first gear, something you don't want for towing!

I used to have an '85 with a 700-R4 with big tires. I didn't use the overdrive much, but I sure liked having that low first gear!

you can tow and use a cam with the 700r just use the 87 or later as it had all the little problems fixed!

Yes, you shouldn't tow a large load with a 700r4 in overdrive (4th gear). So you put it in 3rd gear which is exactly the same as 3rd gear in a TH350....so no difference there.
I also don't understand the big cam problem with a 700r4.....
