I know this has been asked before but I want to ask again.
What type of fluid goes in my np205 tansfercase.
And how do you check the fluid level.
While I am asking how do you do the same on the 4 speed tranny.
    Thanks for the help

There has been some argument about this over the years[IMG]. I say look up what´s in your 205, and refill with the same type. I run ATF in my 205, but I run an auto tranny. I know that several people use gear lube in theirs when hooked up on a manual tranny. Probably because the cross-leaking between the two. Gear lube would kill an automatic in notime.

The level is right when you can´t fill it no more. The filler plug is the "upper" square-headed bolt. If you open it and oil starts sipping out, the level is correct.
The drainplug is obviously the lowest bolt. Both bolts are on the rear side, but you knew that[IMG].

80W90 weight Gear lube. For both the 4 speed and the 205.
I've never seen anyone use ATF in one before.
The 208 and 241 use ATF because thats what they are designed for.
The 203 uses motor oil, 30W I think.
