Transfer case ID

    Below the nosecone on a Blazer transfer case is a round metal plate with numbers on it. What do these numbers mean?

    Usually they have the model#, the serial#, build date, and variation numbers. Mine for example is:

    NP208 C (Model)
    1420 something,something etc. (serial #)
    9 26 84 3 (9/26/1984, 3rd shift)
    261 (variation #)

    "261" is the low range reduction ratio...for a NP 208 it is 2.61 to 1
