Anyone ever re-seal a transfer case with it still on the truck? I was hoping to back off the bolts on the case enough and get a big enough gap so that I could run a new bead of RTV around the seam.

Im dealing with a 700R4/NP208 combo... The 208 has the two case halves which seam together right down the center of the chain-drive. It seems to me you could do it, Im just not sure how easy it will be to seperate the halves once I get the case bolts loosened. Taking the thing down is such a bi+ch, and today I dont have my tranny jack. Dammit.

This is going to be cake. I just backed off all the case bolts about a half inch and the case seperated very cleanly. Ill just wait for the last drips of ATF to drop and then run a nice bead of RTV.
