Is it possible to swap out the 3rd gear of a TH350 for one that is larger?

After installing my new rear Diff with 4.10 gears, I can't go over 55mph without stopping at every gas station I see. I know I could swap for a 700, but I'm curious if it's possible to swap out the upper gear?

My TH350 runs very strong, has a shift kit, and has been rebuilt; so I'd like to keep it.

    Thanks,

    Thomas.

you may want to go to the local drag shop and see what they have to offer,,,i know you can change the first gear but not sure about drive...or maybe even call up b+m or TCI trannies,,they will definately know what you can and can't do..

3rd gear on a TH350 is not a gear, it is direct drive. Input shaft connected to output shaft. There would be no way to turn this into an OD gear.

    Thanks for the info guys.

I guess I'll either rebuild a 700 to make it bulletproof, or just live with <60mph.
