Ok, Ive noticed a few times when I get going on the freeway at high speeds(60-65 on my speedo) I get a whiff of burning oil and theres a slightly noticeable white somke trail behind me. It wont happen when im going 50-55.

What could be causing this? Im thinking that because trans fluid expands when it heats up that it is getting too hot and "boiling" out. I dont have a trans cooler but I have been thinking about getting one. Are there any breather tubes or anything else that could be causeing this problem?

I would really like to figure this out because I love my truck but I dont like looking like a fool with a smoke trail behind his truck on the freeway.

I'd almost bet that there isn't a problem with the fluid boiling, if that was the case, you would have more probplems than just that. There should be a breather and most likely, thats just plugged. I had an old car that did the same thing, I just replaced the dipstick with one of the newer GM styles that has the little plastic flip top and locks it closed.

Just make sure its at least as long as the stock one, and you may need to re-scribe the full and add marks on one side if it doesn't fit your application exactly.

I had a similar problem .. but my tranny tube to the filter was cracked so it was sucking air and blowing trans fluid out the dipstick tube...
    something to check
