Get yourselves some regular 40 channel CB radios. You can get good deals on CB's on ebay.

Even less setup and more portability would be the FRS handheld radios. They have gotten really cheap in price and have about a 1-2 mile range. Try to get some with rechargeable batteries or car power cords as they can chew the batteries up if your doing a lot of talking.

But you'll find very few other rigs equipped with FRS radios when on a trail run. CB's are the radio of choice for just about any rig that hits the woods. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
