No, it's just easier than saying " the '89 blazer, that is now cloned to a '75, that was a slush box, but now a short throw". And when there is 7 chevys at the house (on the road), you cant just say "take the truck". And talking about a project, when you got three being worked on, gets confusing.

According to my wife my 81 Jimmy is "The pig".

The 83 I still call "Pauls truck". That'll wear off when I've owned and driven it more though.

The trail rig was dubbed the pumpkin after my mom hung one of those plastic jack-o-lanterns from the mirror when I painted it orange. It became the flaming pumpkin when I had my friend lay out some flames on it.

The Toyota will have a few pieces from the original chevy so it'll become the flaming pumpkin 2, no matter what color it is.

My Kids named my '83 Blazer "Big Delores" when the lift went on. Just added a '74 GMC 1/2 ton longbed that they are now working on naming. But I think most vehicles are girls, for NUMEROUS reasons :P

Mine always are named after the color it's painted...The green truck....the red truck. The trick is not to have two trucks the same color.

Midnight Blue and its a she. Blue because she is blue(light blue), and Midnight because I always waited till the wife and kids went to bed to go to the garage to build and repair her. Female because no matter how much time you spend with it there is always something you would change if you could:)
