Colorado Crew, I need help getting these freakin axles done. I'm out of town from the 19th through the 25th, and from the 30th through the 5th. When I come back though, I'm looking to schedule a weekend where maybe I can have a few of the brothers over and bang out this swap. I should have the perches welded on, etc, everything ready to go, so I'm just looking for some professional guidance and some muscle to get them under. Can anybody make the weekend of July 8th work? I wanna wheel dammit!

I don't know my schedule but I might be able to help. What part of Denver do you live in? July 8th?

It's hard for me to say definitely this far ahead, but if i'm not working (or can get someone to cover my shift) I will definitely be there to help you out.

I expect you'll protect my sheetmetal with extra enthusiasm from now on. :deal:  :haha:

So what's the plan Stan? Where do we need to be and what are we doing, just bolting the axles in or what?

Knowing John we'll have to do it blindfolded.

My house, July 8th, 0900. I'll have my neighbor ready to weld the perches as soon as we're under the truck. The front is basically ready to go, and I just have to finish the drums on the 14 and pick up the new 8lug wheels. Does this sound like a one day job guys? Beer and Pizza for all!

Aside from the perches, we SHOULD be able to do it in half a day.

You've got the right u-joints and u-bolts? Does the 14-bolt swap require different spring plates since the axle tubes are different diameter?

How are you attaching the e-brake cable?

Oh hey we need to get payment terms nailed down. My normal hourly rate is $55.

I charge B_to_C $45/hr because he's a nice guy, a college student and all that.

Now jiminy pays $70/hr because he's a gawd-damn pain in the arse and has to have everything to within .001" and you can't even smudge his paint. I have to wear cotton gloves to touch anything on his truck!

You can pay me by the hour or we can negotiate a set fee for the entire day regardless of how long it takes. Just let me know. :thumb:

I'll come by and help as well, if there's room under the truck for all of us.

I'm picking up the u-bolts and plates today at NAPA, as well as the conversion u-joint. Picking up the 8lug wheels next week. The front is basically just a bolt in swap, 10bolt for 10bolt. I'm leaving the e-brake off for now, since my current e brake is out of service anyway. I'm leaving for Michigan tonite, returning Wednesday night, so I'll be away from the computer until then... Thanks guys!

Should be like a half day job, barring unforseen problems. Which will probably occur, so might as well figure a full day.

Why aren't you welding the perches on before hand? Don't want to use shims? That will eat up some time figuring all that out, which BTW I don't know much about. You could get away without shims for a while. Aren't you only lifted 3"?

So if we finish Saturday, are you going to run Carnage Sunday?

If we can get it all done Saturday, you're damn right I'll be at Carnage! I'll be finishing the brakes tonite, and getting the wheels and tires mounted tomorrow. Anybody got some extra tall jack stands?
