I am going to be kind of vague here but i don't have much info to go on. I heard a song on the rock station and it was kind of an acoustic version of an older song from the 70's, but it's been redone and is played a lot within the past few months. It's not the Fred Durst one, it's someone else???

Could be "Simple Man" sung/slaughtered by Shinedown.

The song was originally released by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I hate that freakin remake  Here's an idea, if your in a band, how about you come up with your "own" songs? All this recycling these days makes me sick.

Mustaine just redid "Anarchy in the UK"

I heard some crap band named "Spiderbait" do "Black Betty"

APC is releasing a whole cover album

At least when Metallica did it it wasn't a trend and they did calssic metal and rock

I think it's pop culture becoming bankrupt and going to the most recent halfassed decent stuff

Ahhhhhhhh we're heading to the bottom of the arc

Yes i would. And Charlie Daniels' remake of "Layla". Remakes suck. And not just music either. Arround these parts, the orriginal "Flight of the Pheonix" has been pulled from the video stores. $50 says the orriginal with James Stewart is gonna still be 10x better than the new one. Same with "War of the Worlds".

If i hear one more person request "Simple Man" on the radio who doesnt know its a cover im gonna puke.

Speaking as a drummer in a (mostly) cover band, I'll let you in on a little secret:MOST PEOPLE LIKE LISTENING TO SONGS THEY KNOW!!!!!

We generally throw the odd original into a gig set just to break things up and people stand around not knowing what to do. As soon as we're done we'll kick into a crowd favorite like "Copperhead Road" or "Night Moves" and the dance floor will fill up again in a heartbeat. And we don't even bother adding originals to the set for weddings because people pick the set list ahead of time.

Cover bands have their place, trust me. :deal:
