Never done this before. My shifts are too late and too hard even when babying the pedal. Also when the tranny downshifts to 1st, it really hammers down hard. Can't be good on the tranny and u-joints. How do I adjust this and where is it?

Its an 87 TBI w/ 700R4. Adjustment near the TBI unit?? /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Sound like you need to loosen it a little bit. I/m not sure about the TBI since mine is with carburator but I suppose it is in about the same location. There is a bracket on the driver side of the carb/TBI where the TV cable and the accelerator cable goes through, on the backside of that bracket there is a plastic button that you need to push down to release the TV cable, push it down and pull the plastic sleeve on the front side of the bracket towards the TBI a couple of clicks, if that doesn't help try and give another couple of clicks.
