i bought new straps for the 78 blazer at /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gifautozone /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif, when i went to go put them in i noticed that the holes were full of dirt. so i cleaned it out best i could and sprayed wd-40 in the holes to help get rid of most of the dirt in the threads themselfs. when i went to put the bolts in they go in about 1 1/2 turns and is hard to turn so i put a wrench on it /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif and it seems like it gets harder. so i pull the bolt out and it looked like it was begining to strip them out. i put one of the other bolts in it and it is like it is suppose to turn until the same point. QUESTION what is the correct thread for the bolt? im thinking about getting a tap to run through the holes to clean them out. could they had given me the wrong ones? it a 12 bolt rear end.

i wanted to drive it today but looks like maybe tomorrow

a coulpe of years ago I bought some straps too, got the parts at Autozone/HI-LO Orilly/Advance/Chief, can't remeber
but they did not fit, went to Napa or Car Quest
got the right straps and bolts to fit the first time.

All of them do not reproduce the strap like the OEM
go to GM for the strap, last time I got them
    they were reasonable.
