Can someone please explain to me this setup? I see the leaf springs are not mounted to the mounting brakets on the frame? TIA

1/4 eliptical springs, (half a spring with the thick side mounted upside down at the frame, and the eye mounted on the axle. Most basic explanation) and a 4 link for location. Ive seen his truck in person and its pretty damn beefy, and flexes like crazy.

imagine the regular leaf cut in half at the center. that makes it 1/4 eliptical. a regular L.S. is technically " 1/2 eliptical" since technically its half of an elipse.

Ill see if i can get ryan to put up some pics of us from saturday, i know we didnt take too many, since we were all buse driving. we ran whampum trail and chicken leg or what ever its called.

Did someone say carnage? Here is the list as of now:

    1. Blown 350 in a K5. Mike
    2. Blown 454 in a K5. Josh
    3. Broken D60 on a Jeep. Not shaft related.
    4. Broken something on our K5.
    5. Trans in black GC.
    6. YJ driveshaft.
    7. Severe damage from tree on GC. Matt
    8. Snapped axle shaft on Wrangler.
    9. Bent leaf spring. Wayne
    10. Broken stub shaft on D60. Otter
    11. Clutch and shock on CJ7. Jim (the ride I started in on Sunday)
    12. Leaf spring center pins and exhaust ripped off on YJ. Luke
    13. Blown T case on YJ. Ryans Dad
    14. Ripped steering box off of K5 frame. Spankey
    15. Quite a few trucks took on body damage.
    16. Ford Bronco tow rig. Still not running. Pappysyoda
    17. Toyota, blew front engine seal and something in the steering. Needed towed home.
    18. Shock bolts broken and overheating issues on 72 K5.

At least between the group from both days we left nothing untouched. icon_wink.gif Just so everybody knows the blown engines mean relativly nothing to the owners and they will be back wheeling soon. I hope the person with the Black GC gets it working ok. The tree incident seems to be getting taken care of. Good luck to all in their repairs. The joys of this sport.

There might be more that I missed and will edit as I find out.
