spicer forged cross joints are the best you get short of CTM type joints.

How often should I grease and how do I tell when I have put enough grease in them?

I broke one with a 305..... I was trying to do a burnout and my brakes are biased very much to the rear (as I found out). The brakes lock up so tight in the rear that the u joint just let go before the tires spun.

Install the non-greasable Spicer forged u-joints. They have bronze bushings instead of needle bearings.Whatever you do, don't try adding more grease in the caps, they are ready to go out of the box. They're in my front end, no worries. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I got mine from Stephan at ORD. At the time he had them in stock. Call him regarding your axle. I'm sure plenty of places carry them. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

Grease whenever you grease everything else, and grease until it purges from all four bearing caps. If one of the caps will not purge this means you have a problem.

I do not use greasable joints though personally but that debate is endless.

I've got a pair of 5-806x spicers for my D60 and they certainly have needle bearings. This is the best joint spicer makes for this application and it certainly doesn't have bronze sleeves.

It's cool. I haven't got mine installed yet...so many damn projects, I'll probably have my 35 spline outers before I go to install my new u joints.
