Anyone local have a 12 bolt housing? Doesn't have to be complete, just need the housing.

This is for Rob, he got a little ugly on it today apparently.

I don't have a housing using junk yard search found a couple with 3.73 gears. But the junkyards want anywhere from $350 - $550 for an axle.

Also curious where was Rob wheeling when he trashed the axle?

He doesn't need the whole thing, just housing and tubes. He will drop his guts into a new housing.

    Harley & All,

Thanks, I found one emply, one of Marvs friend in his neighborhood, had one, really cheap.

I cracked the housing on the top on the passenger side top, about 2" back, and then spun the rosett weld on the back of the housing.

Marv, Fred & myself ran Anaconda in Table Mesa today. The top of the waterfall was a little rough on the blazer. I'm not really sure where it broke but, it sounds worst than it is.

Did not break any axles or such, just the housing.

Still love my 1/2 ton stuff!!!!

Whew! When I started reading this I was afraid I'd lost my only 1/2ton hero! /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif

I always enjoy reading about how well you do with 1/2ton running gear. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

If you caught the post about it awhile back , someone actually managed to spin a 14 on its tubes , so it ain't like these are weak , just stuff happens . I am still sticking to my 1/2 ton gear on both trucks . /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

    Scott,

Thanks, for the support /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Just a minor breakage on the old 12Bolt. It's just one of thoese things. I still believe in the 12 bolt/ 1/2 ton stuff. So ya get a little breakage once in a while.

The problem is that I continue run this stuff way over the limits of what it was designed for. Carnage is just one of the things that happens with 1/2 ton stuff.

I will post up some pictures when I get them of the housing.

Paul, thanks for the offer, I really appreciate it.

Well I guess this answers the age old argument of "ya you got cromo axles but what breaks now?" I was wagering for the R&P but it apears a well abused housing gives up earlier. Glad to hear you got a plan going. How much down time are you lookin' at?

I should have the R&P reset this week, and have it back in the blazer by friday of this week. I will drag the R&P to Brian LaBarge and have him reset this week and set the axle back in on friday night or saturday moring, just enought time to hit the run next weekend.

I personally don't think it happened on this trail, many times of poundning the housing on the last trails, including Moab did it in my opinion.

Are you possibly rewelding or staking the tubes somehow on the new housing ? Maybe a truss of somekind ?
