Re: Late Notice: Alto OHV Run in North Central Arizona

Today was AWESOME! There were 3 jeeps, 1 early bronco, 1 late bronco, 1 land rover, and 2 K5's. I'll get some pics posted on the board once I get the film developed and scanned. I'll probably add them to this post.

You guys shoulda seen the other K5 I was wheelin with today. What a cool rig. Post 75 K5(I didn't ask what year- too busy admiring the cool sh!+) Rhino lined inside and out. Major fender cuts, Cut doors and steel filler on the door cuts, revolvers, shackle flip, D60, 14BFF, full cage, topless, welded in square steel as rocker panels, 37 16 swampers, rock protection everywhere, nP205/th400, GM crate motor....... Needless to say I was drooling, but at least I didn't get any on me[IMG].....And to top it all off, the owner, Juan was really cool to talk to, not all stuck up. Down to earth regular dude. Of course I told him about this [IMG]site[IMG]. He already knew but didn't know about the forums. Hopefully he'll be here soon.

I was nervous for nothing at all. Me, Juan, my friend Tye(pres of the club), and the early Bronco did all the hard stuff. The other yahoos just watched. 2 K5's vs. 1 Jeep and 1 EB. I say we kicked butt[IMG]

Sounded like it was fun. I wish I could of made it, buy Im still trying to straigten the roof on my blazer so I can put some type of windshield in. Right now I have gotten the roof pretty close, but just needs a little more tweeking. Maybe next time.

No problemo. We run "Tread Lightly" and safe, just FYI, in case we do run together soon. Good luck on the windshield thing. You may want to get ahold of Dave73K5, very good body man, prolly can help you out. send me a PM and I'll tell you how to get hold of him if you can't reach him. Good luck with your project!

Holy Cow dude!!!!! I hope you weren't hurt!... Give it up on the body, IMHO, get another body. I woudn't even attempt to repair that kind of damage. Too messed up and too much time, money and effort to fix correctly. Just my .02 from what I see from the pics. Is the frame damaged?

I got a concusion from it, a few knots on my head, and my spine compressed a little. Im about 2 inches shorter now than before the accident. As for the damage I am not trying to fix it back to normal. I am just trying to make it stret legal so I can drive it to the trails. I got the roof up all the way now, I threw away the fiberglass top, got new fanders for it, and strightened out the hood somewhat. No body damage. Even my 10 bolts held up fine except I blew the spider gears in the rear. I also bent a front shackle, so I am ordering new ones.

Plastic on the windshield prolly won't be legal. and it's not very safe for anything other than wheeling. You may want to cut in another windshield frame from a donor truck- doesn't have to be a Blazer, and put glass back in for the street..

I may do that, I just havent decided yet. I know plastic isnt legal, but as long as you dont get pulled over you are ok. I use to have a dune buggy that was street legal, and it had a plaexy glass windshield.

That's true. Just wouldn't want you to get hurt again. A rock at 50-75 MPH hitiing plastic, then the plastic cracking off in sharp pieces, embedding themselves in your body prolly isn't a good thing[IMG]

No not at all. Thats why I am not sure what I am going to do yet. I am also looking into getting another truck so I can tow my Jimmy. I am looking at a 79 K10 longbed. Its got 3/4 axles, dual gas tanks, dual batteries, 454, 700r4, and a 205 trnsfer case. If I can pick it up for cheap then I with use it. If I tow my Jimmy than a plastic windshield is fine.
