i see you guys refer to slip yoke eliminators all the time and was just wondering what it is
my yoke is leaking at teh xfer case also and needs replacing
    what should i do?
    208-c new from boyce
if the problem is you cant remove rear shaft and drive due to fluid leaking, couldnt you just get an old yoke, with out the driveshaft and slide it on the output from the xcase does the output shaft stickout far enough to drill through it and the repair yoke, if so, you could remove the drive shaft and slide on the repair yoke and slip a bolt and nut through and drive in front wheel
just an idea for a cheap and easy alternative to the SYE
also if the yoke is fixed to the output shaft like the diferential where does the movement happen for suspension flex?????

    It needs a bigger motor.
    what's in it now?
doen't matter it NEEDS A BIGGER MOTOR

Re: what is a slip yoke, and why is it bad

i have a 205 witout a slip yoke, so i dont know about the eliminators. but a slippyoke is when the yoke on the axle slides into the transfer case. on a fixed yoke t case the slipping is in the shaft itself and the shaft bolts to the case at the u joints. where the driveshaft "slips" into the T case there is a higher probobility of an oil leak occuring on the 208's etc.

    beligerence doesn't justify intelligence.

slip yokes are simply as put before a yoke with splines that slip into the rear of the transfer case, I know there prone to leaking and if you break your rear shaft or pull it you'll dump all your fluid.

The slip yoke eliminator is an aftermarket kit that converts your
your yoke coming out of the transfer case to the same type of
yoke that is on your rear end. A new drive shaft will be needed. No kit is mass produced for a 208 yet. You can convert a 241 though. Thats on my long list of things that I would like to have...

I found someone that can make a 208 slip yoke eliminator for us. I have not checked out everything about it but Randy has built me a 4x4 E350 van and done other work for me. If he says he can do it, I belive he can. If your serious about doing one, give him a call.

when you have a fixed output at the case, the driveshaft will have a slip yoke in the middle or close to middle of it, look on the 69-72 blazers, youl see what I mean

A drive shaft with out a slip yoke in the t-case is just like a front one. The front drive shaft on 4x4's telescopes on splines when the suspension moves. This what the rear one will do with the slip yoke eliminator. Just clarifying for those that didn't quite understand /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Where can you get a driveshaft for a case that has a fixed yoke? Can you send in your old shaft and have it converted to the slipping style?
