    Hey all
I found a warn winch that is on an old scout.
Ther is no cable on it and the wiring looks pretty ratty.
Would it be worth it to buy it and try to rebuild it?
Or would it cost just as much to buy a new one?
    TIA

How much is the winch to begin with? How much can it pull? I mean if the mechanical parts of the winch look good and aren't rusted or messed up, I'd go for it... But it all rests on the cost of the winch to begin with... if it's too high then why bother since you will need a new cable and the wiring.... which might run you bucks as compared to buying a brand spanking new one with a warrenty....

C'mon captain break pedal... quit looking for the parade and drive!! [IMG]

I think I can get it for about $50.
I will have to dig for a tag to see what it is. But being that it is on a little scout I am guessing that it is an 8K model.
Even if it is an 8K it would be better than using the hi-lift.

these guys have rope that go on a winch instead of cable... kind of a cool product, would give you some flex and rebound, plus should be safer if it breaks then a cable.
