I was talking to a friend that said that there were trails in the Uwharrie National Forest in NC. I'm pretty close to there, so I was thinking of checking it out. Has anyone been there or know anything about them?

I just got a map yesterday. I got it off of a site for an Xterra club. They had pictures of these Xterras doing the trails. No mud on them, all bone stock. If they can make it, my S-10 Blaze can definitely make it in worse conditions! It looked prety cool, too. Gotta check that out soon. Later, fellas!

Yep. I think it was made by the people with the Xterras, so it is a little confusing. Once I get a better one I'll post that. Here it is:

I have a friend that is going down there this weekend in his Explorer. From what I hear, it is good wheeling, but the trails are really narrow. I don't want to scratch the crap out of my paint. I will find out how wide they are though.

I was stationed at Ft Bragg for 7 years and in the unti I was in we did training up there. Once I found out about it, I went up there on a regular basis, its got rock hill climbs, nasty mud bogs, all that a guy could want. There are alot of trails up there, so take some marker ribbon to mark the trails, as a fella could get lost as [censored] up there, about a mile in there is a left turn that goes up and up then drops wa way down into a hell of a trail, don't go if your not locked, I was and it started raining, we like to never got out. Needless to say the area is alot of fun. To the one who said Airborne, you must be a five jump chump,, cuz anone who was really hardcore wouldn't have to advertise it,, See ya and feel free to e-mail me and ask questions, I still remember it like it was yesterday, and that was in 88-93

Never been stuck, just temporarily delayed.

hey guys....im that explorer guy that dawson444 was talking about, i have been up there and the trails are great, especially for close to stock trucks cause there are trails that offer good challenges but are still doable with minor mods. and of course there are tougher trails for those with more mods. only problem i can see with a k5 is width, because your paint will get stracted up bad on some of the trails by tree branches.

I just got back from Uwharrie. It was great! I was in my S-10 Blazer 4x4 with a 1.5" t-bar tweak lift and 30" BFG all-terrains. It fit nicely, but I can see how it would be a tight fit for a full-size rig. I was with about 11 other S-10 trucks and Blazers, most of them modded up, but two of them bone stock. The two stock ones high-centered a lot and one of them got stuck in a big ditch, but mine did OK. We did the very difficult trails, so it was tough. There were several Explorers, Jeeps, and Toyotas stuck in ditches and the like, but not too many Chevys out there. We did have one S-10 Blazer roll and get totalled, so it is tough. I will definitely be going back again soon! I have some pictures (none of the rolled truck) that I will be posting tonight or tomorrow.

I feel sure there are some that are wide enough for K5s. The one we went on was really long and I think you could probably fit a K5 in there. Some parts would require a K5 to take a turn, back up, and the continue up trail, to make a turn. If you get some guys together, let me know.

Well, they said that the trails are getting harder over the years because of people stacking and not fixing the trails back and the like. Apparently they aren't very good at trail maintenance and they are deteriorating. Also, the quads and dirtbikes are tearing things up and making things worse. I had my S-10 Blazer with a 1.5" lift and I had no problems, but I didn't go on the trail where the rollover was.
