Anyone know of a way to find out exactly what options came stock on my '83 Jimmy? With my last two vehicles, ('84 Bronco, and '85 Fiero GT) the dealers had historical departments and sent me detailed info of my rides. But when I tried GM, they say that their computers don't go that far back... I think they stop at '90 or '91. That sucks! Any help?

Check the glove compartment or the inner fender for the options sticker

Well, in the glovebox, there's only a sticker saying "Do not put a camper in the back of this vehicle". And there is no sticker at all on any of the fenderwells. - Gary

Not fair. I could read about half of my '83's tag, the rest just decomposed right there on the fender. Kinda sad I think : )

Why insist on counting when the ring gear has the tooth counts stamped in?

I hear ya! I never understood why they sometimes put the sticker under the hood instead of in the glove box. Of course, the one on my '75 is mostly wrong now. [IMG] The 203 was replaced with a 205, the Turbo 350 was replaced with a Turbo 400, it's now got 3/4-ton running gear, Mustang seats, and everything under the hood came out of an '87 Corvette. Well, I called them and thought that I was about to finally find out everything, until the lady came back and said that their computer could only bring up Chevys... not GMC's. Man! Will I ever find out my options list!
