The following was forwarded to me by a Vietnam Vet friend of mine...

    Dick Forrey, Vietnam Veterans
    Association

We asked our local Target store
to be a sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Wall
during our spring recognition event. We
received back a reply from Target management that
"veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only
donate to the areas of the arts, social actions, gay
    and lesbian causes, and education."

" My thought: If the Vietnam
Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general, do not
meet their donation criteria, something is
wrong at Target. We were not asking for thousands of
    dollars, not even
    hundreds, but simply sponsorship
of an endorsement for a "memorial remembrance."

    As follow-up, I E-mailed the
corporate headquarters and their response was the
    same. Personally, I will
    NOT be purchasing anything at
Target Stores again. If the Vietnam Veteran or
    Veterans in general do
not meet their area of giving,
then why should I, as a Vietnam veteran, spend my hard
    earned money in their stores?

Please pass this on to as many
    people as you know.

    Sincerely,

    Veterans Helping Veterans

PS: Target will also not allow
the Marines to collect for Toys For Tots during the
    holidays

That is the biggest load of horse crap I've heard all week. My Dad is a Vietnam vet and I'll remember to NEVER shop there again whenever possible (sometimes they have the stuff that no one else does!/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif)

OK, I stand corrected, I still don't shop there much...most of my money goes to Home Depot, Groceries, Gas, and Auto Zone.....and of course the IRS. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

So what Target is saying is that Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Assn. is a liar. Right? It may be that Target's policy does not allow individual stores to give to the foundation named but in the same email Dick says that he emailed Corporate Headquarters and gives their response in that email...

I did not receive this email from just some unknown spammer spreading rumors. I got it from a very old and dear friend who is very active in the Vietnam Veterans Assn and the VFW. The person whom I refer to is a chopper test pilot for the US Army. I skydive with him on a regular basis and I tend to believe what ever he tells me. He is a soldier and a true hero and I would never question his actions. I'm sure that Target and any other corporation would stand up immediately to disqualify this communication no matter what really happened in order to keep dammage control at a minimum.

It is very hard to find the truth in this internet world we live in and I know very little about SNOPES. But when it comes to Vietnam Vets I would take my friend's word over anything said by an internet based institution. However I will ask my friend to visit SNOPES and to contact Dick Forrey in order to find the real truth and I will update this post with my findings.

    Thank You

How accurate is this?? There's plenty of that I'd like to GO AWAY ('cept education, unless it's pushing for curriculum overhaul), I'll boycott Target just to help that cause...

WTF?....So like the Board of Directors is gay/lesbian or something?...Don't understand why they would single out a group like that...

I know the Tom Thumb grocery in Stonebridge wouldn't donate to the local Govt Subsidized Old Folks assisted living apartments...(ALL are disabled, but able to get around some in wheelchairs, etc)...They asked for a donation for their Christmas dinner...(Stonebridge is a planned community of homes mostly in the $250K to higher range and an amazingly large Mormon population)....they were told that their budget was only $10K for local charity, so they were going to keep it in the community...The Store manager is Mormon, so guess where their "charity" money goes...I ain't knockin' Mormons, I'm just sayin' WTF?...My neighbor is a member of the local Council of Churches and he's the one who told me this....Seems a little sorta like the same thing... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
