When I start my truck (83 K5, 305, 465, 208, 10b). The engines idles rough enough to vibrate the whole truck pretty badly. It continues to vibrate till I push in the clutch, then it idles smoothly with no vibration. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this.

Maybe it's your throwout bearing that would explain the smooth idle with the clutch pushed in.hope this helps good luck

If it is the throwout bearing, I hope it holds till I get everything for my hydro conversion. If it doesn't I geuss I'll just have to do throwout bearing and clutch without the conversion.

    Thanks,

For those interested, today I was talking a friend about changing my throwout bearing. We crawled under the truck and he said that might not be my problem. When I looked where he was pointing it seems that of the 4 bolts that holds the bell housing to the transmision there were 2 missing completly and one of the other 2 about to fall out. I got 2 new bolts and lock washers and now the truck doesn't vibrate anymore.

really, i might check for tightness on my bolts, did your truck make a grinding sound when you start out in gear?
