If you're at work, turn the speakers down, hehe, my camera man cuss's a bit. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Otherwise it turned out pretty good. My buddy pulled the auto darkening lense from his hood, and held it in front of the camera for the welding part.
~Discalimer~ My welds usually look alittle better than the one in the picture, but had to kinda weld in an odd position cause of the camera and my buddy, John. He's a good 250lbs. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Right click- Save Target As. Would probably work best. 15mb.

    TIG Clip.

    *EDIT*
This link should be alot faster than the last one.

    COOL!

So I see the torch and what looks like filler rod being "tapped" against the base metal?

Was that welding done on a machine that was rotating the work? If so, do you use the torch to heat the base metal THEN "tap" in that filler rod? I'm just trying to figure out what the direction of travel was in the video.....

    OZZY RULES!!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

What you can't see because of the glare is the puddle itself. You can kinda see it forming behind the arc though. You can get an idea of the direction of travel after the weld is done and the lens is removed from in front of the camera. Its done on a positioner machine with a pedal similar to the TIG pedal. I start the arc with the TIG torch and my right foot on the pedal, add some filler rod to establish the puddle, then step on the other pedal to activate the rotor machine with my left foot. The "tapping" is pretty much what you figured, my left hand adding filler rod to the puddle. Right hand holds the torch. That weld goes around the circumference of a 3.5" .069 tube. About 11" of weld. It's not as easy as it looks. It took me a couple weeks to get that good at it.

Here's a picture of the finsihed product-

What do you mean, better than the picture? You can make better looking welds than that? Looks perfect to me!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I feel bad now. I can't even make a MIG weld look halfway decent compared to that.

I usually can...The spacing of the ripples is alittle off on that one. I was uncomfortable while doing that one, so couldn't make it perfect.
