what OS are you runnin? at school we use macintosh, and use Final Cut Pro and iMovie. FCP is better, in my opinon.

as for PC, i think Dazzle has an editing program, as well as Pinnacle. not sure on those, however.

oh, and when you get em done, upload em and post the link! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I had a friend who used Dazzle, he said it was terrible. I wanted to try it, never got around to it.

I second FCP, though, heard it was the best and what Steven Spielberg uses (or lucas film, I get them mixed up).

There might be a windows version, but I dunno. I actually got a mac just for Final Cut and ProTools. I haven't turned it on in 6 months, but that's not the point...

final cut is for mac and its pretty advanced

ive been doing video editing for all of 6 years now. Here are a few programs i use

Virtual Dub - the mspaint of video editors, cut paste, uncompress, recompress, add audio, remove it...ect, really small/quick
Vegas Video - i use this ALOT. VERY good program, unfortunately its also hard to find. The company that made it, Sonic Foundry, was bought out by sony. I still have the copy thats 2 years old. So good luck finding it. I like vegas cause you can do basic editing with it(like on a time line) but you can get really advanced and use matting (green screen) effects ect.
Windows Movie Maker - i use this simply cause its just so stupid easy. Point click drag effects, really simple to use for a beginner, plus it comes with xp.
Combustion - Super advanced. This is what you would want to use if you were going to make a hollywood CG movie.

Some other ideas....adobe premier, uhm... Ulead Video Studio

    stuff like that

The best one I have ever used for the PC is Adobe Premiere. It has a bit of a learning curve, but there are pleny of tutorials online and with the program.

Pinnacle Studio 8. Studio 9 just came out and it's supposed to be great. Pinnacle software doesn't like alot of junk running in the background though, so if your system is loaded down with animated fru-fru icons and all that garbage you might have issues.
