Local P.D. auto auction coming up in a week, and they have a 1991 Blazer, from what I can decipher from the vin # they have listed is it is a 1/2 ton diesel model. They don't give out any other info before on vehicles, other then vin#, and you can't "view" them until the morning of the auction. I don't want to waste my time going if it isn't a K5 1/2 ton Diesel model. What letters in the vin code and position would tell me if it is one. The vin#is: 1GNCT18ZYMO1------.

I'd guess that's a S-10 Blazer. Not much on that VIN makes any sense for a K5

Dave; you pretty much came up with the same info I did, pointing towards a 91 k5 w/Diesel. By the way, my info said the "O" (not a zero) is Oshawa Ontario plant. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope it is what we think it is! Could this be some type of military vehicle? someone else in the forum mentioned that one of the letters was for "APV". My buddy said thats Army Persuit Vehicle. Yes-No? Thanks for the help. Mike

Probably not military at all, probably "all purpose vehicle" Military already has APC, and I can guarantee they wouldn't call a 1009 "Armored" : )

(although you can put sand bags on the floor : )

The 5.7 litre diesel wasn't used in 91...in fact the 5.7 Diesel was discontinued in the early 80's. Judy nailed it more thoroughly than I did. It's an S-10

What are the last 8 digits of that VIN, I'll see if I can run it for you.

Thanks to everyone for the help and input, after some more detective work today, turns out this should be an S10 type.
