Does anyone have a vintage air A/C installed? I'm a little confused if they have a direct bolt-on for my cab. I have a facotyr A/C cab that someone previosuly did me the favor fo stripping of everything except the vents.
Does it replace the heating system too? I'd love to replace my old ac/heat controls with an aftermarket control. Anyone know about the systems?

I had a Vintage Air system on a 63 C10, and it was great. Perfect fit and finish, and great performance. The 73-87 system shows that it comes with a new control panel. Their website is http://www.vintageair.com

I've been talking to Vintage Air recently about A/C for my Suburban. They have a SureFit system that is essentially a direct bolt-in. It goes for about $1100. It comes with EVERYTHING: compressor, lines, condenser, evaporator, heater, control panel, etc. It also gets rid of the vacuum operated valves.

One of the nicest things about it is the space you get to reclaim in the engine compartment. The whole system fits under the dash, and it comes with a block-off plate for the holes in the firewall. Very clean.

I emailed tech support for Vintage Air and they are going to mail me a hard copy of the install instructions for the kit, so I should get a pretty good idea of what is included and how easy;/hard it will be.
I got a quote of $1075 shipping included for the kit from a disttributor, looks to be about average price - I think I'm gonna go for it. WIll see after the instructions come.
Thanks Pugsley and 502burb for the info.

You're welcome for the help. Yeah, I guess I should have suggested calling them and asking for the instructions, as I did the same thing myself. Great people there, that they are willing to do that. Not a small instruction set, very well laid out, and they sent a catalog full of info, too. They'll get my business for sure.

Enjoy,
