    It's done.

Despite all the mrk5 razzing I screwed up the guts and did it. I think I'll go build a coffin for the amputated pieces.

When I cut mine , I left the back metal long , hammered it up , and can still stick a can of fluid or a funnel etc in the fender without anything falling out the hole .

    Ha-ha, very funny.

I look at it this way. Body and paint are fairly simple. I did the body before and fenders are a dime a dozen. I can go back to full fenders any time I choose. It took a couple weeks and 24 hrs of nausea to make the final decision. It was actually a freeing experience, not so bad after all. Once the shaping was finished and the bottom touched up with paint it doesn't bother me. My cutting was pretty conservative and I doubt many people would notice the difference.

When we ran Twin Cone the drivers side took a hit from the front tire and bent it up slightly. That told me something would have to change soon. I figure it's better to trim a little than catch a tire and bend the complete snot out of it. I certainly gained some decent tire clearance. The stock fenders are an accident waiting to happen.

Looks great. A very clean job. I made the mistake of not cutting mine at all and they got bent to hell. I am cutting soon.

I know your boy is a complete kook but his stupidity is very entertaining. Take comfort in the fact that the nut fell right at the base of the old walnut tree.

Nothing wrong with adding a little clearance as long as you don't go wild with the saws-all
    :hack: :hack: :hack: :hack: :hack:
The best thing you could do is add clearance & protection to the truck.

I might lift the burro, but no cutting allowed! I almost bought a 76 Blazer last week, but I was a mature, responsible adult and bought another work truck instead. Once the shop is built, maybe I can sneak something in there and build a real wheeling rig. That is AFTER I rebuild the burro motor. I didn't dial the timing back going to GJ, and I think I hammered a rod bearing.:doah: :doah: :doah:
