i have an 88 blazer with the tbi and all, i want to do the vortec swap and i got 2 questions.

    1) other than the heads and the intake what other things do I need?

2)i want to reuse my aftermarket headers I have now, will they fit the vortec heads?

    i guess thats it, thanks.

I just put in a 96 motor with vortec heads and the edelbrock MPFI system. The headers should work. The only other thing I can think of is the EGR. I had to get an bung welded on my headers for the EGR.

Centerbolt valve covers if you don't already have them.

There is some cost involved in special gaskets and bolts... I can't think of much else than that. It's been a while since mine was changed out. Call Pace Parts or Burt Greenwald Chevy and see what they say.

You also need the self-aligning rocker arms

also, if youre current heads dont have one, you need a water temp sender that screws into the head that has 3/8" threads. When i put my vortecs on, my old sender had 1/2" threads so now im just running a cap over it and have no temp monitor. Kinda stinks

Maybe longer/shorter pushrods as well, since you are changing rocker style, and the overall head "height" may be different from what yours is. (outside chance, can't hurt to be prepared though) Just something to prepare for, can't really know until you get the heads rockers and pushrods all in the motor and check I guess, unless someone has gone from the exact same setup you had, to the setup you have now.

Swapped a friend's old 350 tbi out of a 2500 P/U to the new vortec heads/motor. The biggest stumbling block was with the accessory brackets. The new intake manifold was different. It bolts down with 8 bolts straight down. There was no place to put the accessory brackets on the new one. However, you may not have any brackets that bolt down on that angle.
To check this, look at how they bolt down now, and make sure they are not held on by any manifold bolts. If they are, things could get expensive.
If I can clarify or answer any more ?'s, let me know.
